Overview 

The course provides a studio and workshop atmosphere where the skills and disciplines of the graphic arts, e.g. digital, illustration and printmaking, can be fully explored. This is supported by state-of-the-art teaching facilities including specialised classrooms, workshops, printing room, photo studios and Apple Macintosh suites to ensure you get the finest experience. You will be introduced to the role of the contemporary graphic practitioner and will develop innovative and original ideas, whilst working with a range of processes and formats in response to the demands of the professional industry.

Our Approach

The programme is delivered in the design studios and workshops, where you will learn a wide range of design skills through practical and project-based activity. This is supported by lectures, seminars, tutorials and independent studio practice. You will also take part in field trips, exhibitions, design conferences and cultural centres, as an exciting and memorable way to put knowledge into context.

Entry Requirements

32 UCAS tariff points.

Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or A Levels.

Or Significant relevant prior learning and experience.

Course Modules

Year 1 – Introduction to Graphic Arts, Visual Thinking, Graphic Language and Communication, Historical and Contextual Influences, Experimental Media Workshops.

Year 2 – Branding: Identity and Implementation, Narrative Illustration, Visual Culture, Professional Practice in the Digital Environment.

Year 3 – Graphic Authorship, Research Project Dissertation, Portfolio and Professional Development, Graphic Arts Studio Projects.
