What will I study?
This is an exciting contemporary course for students interested in studying fashion. The course is delivered through inspirational projects covering a very wide range of themes specialising in all visual and technical aspects of fashion.
The units will be studied over two years on an integrated basis culminating in a Final Major Project which is exhibited at the end of year catwalk fashion show.
Specialist taught skills include fashion illustration, pattern cutting, CAD, garment construction and all aspects of fashion. There are also real-life projects, competitions and opportunities to work with professionals.
Throughout the programme there are educational visits to galleries, workshops, museums, exhibitions and places of specific interest to extend your awareness of the wide range of contemporary creative activity.
How will I be assessed?
The units are assessed and graded through projects and assignments marked by your tutors throughout the course. You will gain feedback in tutorials to monitor your progress.
There is a cost of £75 in total for this course. £25 for a mandatory Art Kit and £50 student contribution that is used to enhance the students learning through the availability of additional resources and activities. More details will be provided before you enrol.
What could it lead to?
Students go into a diverse range of careers within the realms of fashion in the creative industries. If you decide to progress at the College or go on to university you may take a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion or related course. Staff work with individuals to build their portfolio for interviews for courses in the following areas:
- Fashion Design
- Buying and Merchandising
- Design/Production/Marketing etc
- Fashion Promotion/Styling/Imaging
- Fashion Communication
Students progress on to our own degrees in Fashion Design and Production as well as to courses throughout the UK. Past students have successfully completed degrees in Fashion at Northumbria University, Manchester Metropolitan University, London College of Fashion and York College.
