This award is designed for learners who wish to maintain and improve the quality of assessment from within their own organisation.

The course allows students to gain an understanding of the internal quality assurance process and what is involved. Students will be able to identify key techniques and criteria for monitoring quality assurance of assessment and develop their ability in managing and auditing for their individual workplace.

Course Modules/units

Unit 1: Understand the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment

Unit 2: Internally assure the quality of assessment

Entry Requirements

GCSE or equivalent at Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English is a requirement of this course, alongside a Level 3 Assessor qualification.

Learners must also have access to, and be able to quality assure at least two assessors in the workplace. It is the learner’s responsibility to find their own assessors.

March (Eve)2nd Mar 2022 – 25th May 2022, Wednesdays, 5.30pm – 8.30pm, 13 weeks

Study Method

The course will be classroom-based for knowledge and practical work will be assessed in the workplace.

Assessments

Learners will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence as well as being observed.

Additional Costs

All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.

Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.

Course Progression

After successfully completing this course, learners may progress onto:

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training – available at York College University Centre, or other higher-level qualifications in a relevant subject.

Career Progression

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress in to employment as an Internal Quality Assurer within a range of educational settings.
