Intermediate Spanish (Unit 2 - Term 2)
This course is suitable for students who have enjoyed and been successful on the beginners’ course, or whose knowledge of Spanish already allows them to “get by” when on holiday or travelling for work.
Students will practise their listening, reading and speaking skills with a little writing. The emphasis is on communication, finding out more or sharing experiences of Spanish culture and enjoying learning the language.
The course has various useful and helpful topics which may include:
- Daily Routine
- Hobbies/ leisure time
- Shopping for food and clothes
- Booking and checking into a hotel
- Public and private transport
Students should have completed the beginners’ course and/or have some experience of learning Spanish.
Dates and Course Durations
September (Eve) – 22nd Sep 2021 – 1st Dec 2021, Wednesdays, 6pm – 8pm, 10 weeks
January (Eve) – 18th Jan 2022 – 29th Mar 2022, Tuesdays, 6pm – 8pm, 10 weeks
The course consists of work in the classroom and there will be opportunities for pair speaking work, listening to recordings and reading simple text with some writing of simple messages.
There are no formal assessments required as part of this course, however, there will be some small optional homework tasks to reinforce understanding.

All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Students who successfully complete term 2 of the Intermediate Spanish qualification may progress on to further study with the Spanish continuers course we hope to run in the near future if there is sufficient demand.
You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge in intermediate Spanish to help you progress and develop in a number of job opportunities to suit your personal needs and interests.
