The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in International Travel and Tourism Management is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals, able to meet the demands of employers in travel and tourism. On successful completion of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, students can develop their careers in the travel and tourism sector through either continuing with further study or entering employment in a wide range of roles including but not limited to; International media officer, destination manager, curation and interpretation officer, tourism development advisor and group operations manager.
Method of delivery
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in International Travel and Tourism Management offers pathways designed to support progression into relevant occupational areas or on to degree-level study. Holders of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
How will I be assessed
The assessment will integrate academic and vocational learning through assessments based on real-world case studies, developing a range of in-demand business and commercial skills through practical and project activities
Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills through a combination of coursework, practical activity, and formal assessments. A wide range of assessment styles are employed, such as: practical work, portfolios of evidence, formal reports, seminars, and presentations.
Graded exercises, weekly tasks, problem solving activities, flipped classroom actives and on-line revision tests/quizzes will be used as formative assessment tools to monitor your learning.
A full assignment schedule will be available at the beginning of the year to ensure that the workload is well balanced.
