The course is aimed at those who wish to progress into management within the travel and tourism sector and develop as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in travel and tourism and adapt to a constantly changing world. The HND in International Travel & Tourism Management offers pathways designed to support progression into relevant occupational areas or on to a top-up degree. Students will develop a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will learn to apply those principles more widely. You will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems, will be able to perform effectively in your chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for managerial employment in situations, requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of Higher National Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management or equivalent relevant Level 4 qualification.

Or significant relevant prior learning and experience.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment will integrate academic and vocational learning through assessments based on real-world case studies, developing a range of in-demand business and commercial skills through practical and project activities.

Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills through a combination of coursework, practical activity, and formal assessments. A wide range of assessment styles are employed, such as practical work, portfolios of evidence, formal reports, seminars, and presentations.

Graded exercises, weekly tasks, problem solving activities, flipped classroom actives and online revision tests/quizzes will be used as formative assessment tools to monitor your learning.

A full assignment schedule will be available at the beginning of the year to ensure that the workload is well balanced.

Skills you will learn

Throughout the one-year course, students will develop skills in active research , effective writing, analytical skills, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, decision-making, team building, exam preparation skills, digital literacy and competence in assessment methods used in higher education.
