Higher National Certificate (HNC) International Travel & Tourism Management
The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of optional units across a range of occupational sectors at Level 4.
Students will develop a broad knowledge and awareness of key aspects of travel and tourism through five core units, which include one unit assessed by a Pearson-set assignment.
Graduates successfully completing the Higher National Certificate will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic concepts and characteristics of travel and tourism. They will be able to communicate accurately and appropriately, and they will have the qualities needed for employment that requires some degree of personal responsibility. They will have developed a range of transferable skills to ensure effective team working, independent initiatives, organisational competence and problem-solving strategies. They will be adaptable and flexible in their approach to travel and tourism, show resilience under pressure, and meet challenging targets within a given resource.

How will I be assessed?
The assessment will integrate academic and vocational learning through assessments based on real-world case studies, developing a range of in-demand business and commercial skills through practical and project activities
Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills through a combination of coursework, practical activity, and formal assessments. A wide range of assessment styles are employed, such as: practical work, portfolios of evidence, formal reports, seminars, and presentations.
Graded exercises, weekly tasks, problem solving activities, flipped classroom actives and on-line revision tests/quizzes will be used as formative assessment tools to monitor your learning.
A full assignment schedule will be available at the beginning of the year to ensure that the workload is well balanced.
Skills you will learn
Throughout the one-year course students will develop skills in cognitive and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, commercial skills, business acumen, active research skills, Effective research techniques and analytical skills.
Method of delivery
Delivery will consist of lectures, seminar and projects fully supported through the college’s “Blackboard” virtual learning environment.
Students will have access to excellent resources and highly qualified tutors.
All the modules have embedded employability skills such as analytical thinking, problem solving, team working and interpersonal skills.
No additional costs are expected for this course, although students should have access to an internet enabled laptop or PC.

The Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) provides a solid grounding in travel and tourism, which students can build on should they decide to continue their studies beyond the Certificate stage.
Successful completion of the Higher National Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management will enable students to progress on to the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, where the subject will be studied at greater depth.
