Esports Foundation Diploma/Extended Diploma Level 3
This course is aimed at individuals who want to progress into employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship, or who may aspire to enter higher education. The qualification is endorsed by the British Esports Association as being suitable for those who want to work in the industry. This means that it will be recognised by employers and will support entry into the industry in a range of roles.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 4 subjects at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.
What will I study?
During the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports, you are expected to complete seven units. These include:
- Introduction to Esports
- Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
- Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
- Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players
In order to complete the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports, you are required to complete an additional eight units. These include:
- Esports Events
- Producing an Esports Brand
- Video Production
- Esports Coaching
- Nutrition for Esports Performance
The mandatory content allows you to develop your technical skills across the different unit areas, supported by underpinning knowledge, and provides the opportunity for you to relate these to the Esports industry.
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three or four days per week. This course is delivered through a variety of teaching and learning methods in a range of environments to support the delivery of all units on programme and maximise your experience. You will have access to our Esports Suite and Athletic Suite as well as classroom and ICT suites throughout your studies.
How will I be assessed?
All assessments are internally assessed. These assessments will be a mixture of course work, presentations and practical deliveries.
Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis is a synoptic assessment for the Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports.
Esports Events is a synoptic assessment for the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Course fees
ESFA Funding available.
Adult students - there is adult funding for the Foundation Diploma but not funding as it stands for the Extended Diploma and the loan amount is £7,395.00.
Additional costs
Course materials required:
- Notepad and pens or a laptop if accessible.
Those who are part of the Esports Development Centre will need to pay a fee for kit.
