City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying
The course is suitable for employed individuals who have already achieved Level 1 Award/Diploma in Bricklaying.
This course is a mixture of theory and practical and is a hands-on course that teaches a variety of bricklaying skills and allows you to learn, develop and practise these skills required for employment. To be successful on this course you need to have outstanding commitment and enthusiasm.
Entry requirements
The course is suitable for employed individuals who have already achieved Level 1 Award/Diploma in Bricklaying.
Course units
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (6705-23), learners must achieve 49 credits from the mandatory units. Additional credits may be achieved from the elective unit, but will not count towards the qualification.
- Unit 201/601 Health, safety and welfare in construction
- 202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Unit 204 Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Unit 205 Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
- Unit 206 Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures
* Additional credits may be achieved from the elective unit, but will not count towards the qualification.
Assessments
Students will be assessed via online tests and practical assessments in the workshop.

Course progression
This qualification will allow you to progress into employment or on to a Level 3 NVQ Diploma.

Study methods
This course will be delivered by qualified experienced tutors who are experts in their disciplines. Teaching will be done in a practical setting which will allow you to spend the time using the tools and resources. Some additional home study will be required.
Facilities
As well as specialist construction workshops, students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
All materials are provided for you to complete the course. However, some courses may require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning materials. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.

Students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to progress in their current employment or progress onto a new role within the construction industry.
