In this most challenging of years, York College is very proud to announce that nine students have received offers to study at either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge.
The students, who have successfully secured conditional offers to study at the oldest and most prestigious universities in the UK this year, include:
Hayden Bedford (formerly of Temple Moor High School, Science College Leeds) to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge
Thomas Chadderton (formerly of Outwood Academy, Easingwold) to study Mathematics at Pembroke College, Cambridge
Felix Clayton (formerly of Millthorpe School) to study German and Linguistics at St Edmund Hall, Oxford
Charlotte Dick (formerly of Pocklington School) to study Natural Sciences at Newnham College, Cambridge
Ariel Hebditch (formerly of Graham School, Scarborough) to study English at Christ’s College, Cambridge
Cyril Malik (formerly of Millthorpe School) to study German and Beginner’s Russian at Worcester College, Oxford
Matthew Mason (formerly of Joseph Rowntree School) to study Fine Art at St Anne’s College, Oxford
Edie Samuels (formerly of All Saints RC School) to study Fine Art at New College, Oxford
Vicky Joyce, Oxbridge Co-ordinator at York College explains: “I am so proud of all of our students who have navigated the challenging Oxbridge selection process this year. The level of passion, ambition and hard work shown by these talented individuals is inspirational and I know we will be seeing great things from them in the future.”
Glyn Jones, Vice Principal (Academic and Applied) at York College says: “I am delighted to congratulate seven of our A Level students, and two of our Art Foundation Diploma students on receiving Oxbridge offers. Collectively, they have opted to study a broad range of subjects, at the highest level, at the most famous universities in the country. They have each demonstrated considerable hard work and resilience during this incredibly difficult year and we will continue to support them, as we do all our students, as they head towards the completion of their studies with us.”
