In the New Year, York College is running the UK’s first Media Arts Saturday Club, for 13-16-year-olds, and it is completely free!
As well as contact with industry professionals, students will be able to realise their creative ideas through 2D and 3D visualisation and explore the potential of image processing, animation, motion capture and 3D modelling during 24 weekly sessions, led by an expert tutor in a professionally equipped studio at York College. Students will also benefit from visiting working studios, attending a masterclass and the possibility of having work exhibited in London.
Chris Bailey, Clerk, Guild of Media Arts says: “The Media Arts Saturday Club is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their skills and ideas. Creative talent can help students to find rewarding careers. In York alone there are over 500 thriving creative and digital businesses, and an enviable number of museums, galleries and arts companies attracting audiences from far and wide. Talented students and graduates from York created many of these companies which contribute so much to the success of York. These companies and many more are always looking for dedicated creatives to join their teams.”
