In intense heat and scorching sunshine students and staff from the York College music department performed together, mastering all kinds of music genres at their annual ‘Summer Sounds in the Park’ gig at Rowntree Park.
In celebration of some of the music studied throughout the academic year at York College, an appreciative crowd enjoyed jazz, classical, pop and rock numbers, with performances from the College Soul Band, Jazz band, Choir and various groups made up of A Level and vocational music students.
The raised stage in Rowntree Park provided the perfect performance space for students and staff to perform together, before students finally leave the College to progress their music studies at universities and conservatoires around the country.
Emily Thorp, Head of Music at York College said:”It was fantastic to hear our talented musicians performing music they have enjoyed working on as part of their studies or in extra-curricular music groups. Throughout the year the students have taken their musicianship to the limits, performing in various concerts, and it was very special to have the sun shining on everyone at this final performance of the year. I would like to thank students and staff for all their hard work during the academic year and wish our students well as they go onto the next stage of their musical careers.”
