Dance students at York College are performing 'Neverland' at the College's Alan Ayckbourn Theatre this week, as a finale to their two year Extended Diploma in Dance course.
‘Neverland' is an adaptation of the much loved story of Peter Pan - but with a darker twist, revealing the truth about the lost boys and Wendy’s journey through Neverland. Popular characters such as Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and Tick Tock the crocodile perform with their darkest personalities unnerving the audience which ends with the famous battle for the terror of the seas.
Dance tutor, Emma Fawcett is very proud of the group's dance performances this year, which included performances on the main stage at the world’s biggest dance convention; Move It, in March. She says: "The students performed two pieces; a Beatles medley and a piece that raised awareness of mental health issues with the quote, ‘Sometimes when you think you’ve been buried, you’ve actually been planted.’ I am delighted that the students are performing these two iconic pieces again, at the end of the Neverland production, to showcase their talents in their final performance at York College."
