Ionica says: “I have fond memories of my time studying Musical Theatre at York College, where I made friends for life - some of which are also still pursuing the acting route in TV, Film and in the West End. The College gave me the chance to spread my wings and was the perfect transition from school to university. Coming from a small town (Thirsk) I felt it was the perfect stepping stone for me, and all three of my siblings also attended the College.
The facilities were great, as were my tutors who guided me to apply and audition for Drama School. My course was lucky to have Adrian Hall from the Guildford School of Acting to visit, and we auditioned for him at College, this was an incredible opportunity! Through the wonders of modern technology and social media my tutors are still supporting me to this very day.
And now, having worked in the industry in a number of roles, I am extremely privileged to be nominated for this Award, alongside incredible industry professionals. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this could happen. Quite frankly I feel as though I’ve won the lottery - this truly is what dreams are made of. I believe that we cannot help the lives we are born in to but with love, support and genuine people we can grow, be given hope and opportunities we can only dream of.”
