Trombonist Adam and his drummer brother Ben are excited to begin studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity LABAN Conservatoire of Music and Dance, respectively. Adam to study BMus (Hons) Music in Classical Tenor Trombone and Ben to study BMus (Hons) Performance Percussion and Drum Kit.

Initially nurtured by their parents (who play in the Scarborough Spa Orchestra) and enthused by the vibrant music department at St Augustine’s School, Scarborough, they wanted to have the best chance of becoming professional musicians. Studying at York College they have been able to take a double-dose of Music at A Level; Music and Music Technology, alongside Ancient History and English Literature, giving them a broader sense of musicianship.

Adam and Ben agree: “We’ve had a good grounding from our A Level Music and Music Technology courses which enabled us to study and perform all musical genres from rock ‘n roll and hip hop to jazz and orchestral. Also, being members of the Music Development Centre at College was particularly good, it helped us to helped to hone our performance skills. The next stage of our musical journey is so exciting and we are so looking forward to being in London and having a wealth of opportunities to further our careers in music.”

Good luck to all students awaiting A Level results on Thursday 16th August!
