The Art & Design division at York College is extremely proud of first year Level 3 Art Diploma student Jenny Price, who is the first student from the College to have her work selected for the Origins student exhibition at the Bargehouse, OXO Tower Wharf in London between 2nd and 5th August 2018.
The annual Origins exhibition celebrates the exceptional work produced by students taking UAL Awarding Body qualifications at further education institutions nationwide.
Since leaving Easingwold School and Manor CE Academy Jenny chose York College to hone her art & design skills, progressing from Level 2 to Level 3. The work she has created for the Origin exhibition is an animation short film piece based on the subject of mental health. Played on a loop, the film deals with the day to day life of an individual living with depression, showing the mundane activities of getting out of bed, going to the toilet, brushing teeth etc.
Jenny says: “My work encapsulates the visual language of depression, which is very topical at the moment. I used mix media; inks and acrylics, mono printing,3D model stop-motion and digital animation to create the piece and I play the character in the film. It is a great honour to be chosen to exhibit at Origin and I see this opportunity as a wonderful achievement and a platform on which to build my studies in the future.”
