In February this year, representatives from York Rescue Boat visited the College to talk to Business and Hospitality students about the work they do keeping the rivers in and round York safe. The charity, which has a patrol and rescue boat, is also fully committed to delivering a programme of education and awareness in schools, colleges and universities.

A group of Business students held fundraising stalls in the College atrium and organised a charity car wash, raising a grand total of £475 for York Rescue Boat. Student Georgina Probert (formerly of Tadcaster Grammar School) was keen to get involved saying: “When York Rescue Boat came to speak to us I was shocked to hear how dangerous rivers can be. It’s good to know that the Rescue Boat is out there, saving lives if necessary.”
