To mark National Apprenticeship Week, York College has unveiled an art installation of the word ‘APPRENTICESHIPS’. Each letter is themed on some of the apprenticeship programmes offered at York College and displays elements from Engineering, the Construction trades, Hairdressing, Hospitality and Digital Technologies.
The installation was on display at a popular Apprenticeship Showcase event held at the College which saw prospective apprentices meeting with local employers; Preston Baker, Park Leisure, Realistic Resolutions, Piksel, Marriott Hotel, SBL, Sam Smiths, Siemens, Network Rail, Severfield, Industrial Textiles & Plastics Ltd, Persimmon, HComm Rail, Aviva, Tees, Esk & Wear Valley NHS Trust, Jameson Consulting Engineers Ltd and York Minster.
The installation, created by Contemporary Craft students and tutors, celebrates the range of skills apprentices learn on the job, whilst training. Martin Kennedy, Employer Engagement Manager at the College says: “National Apprenticeship Week shines a light on the great working partnerships the College has with local employers and apprentices. The many apprenticeship programmes delivered by the College offer employers the opportunity to train people in the right skills for their business.”
