Instead of mud, tents and wellies at Glastonbury, people in York enjoyed a music-filled afternoon at Rowntree Park, picnicking, lazing in deckchairs and listening to an eclectic mix of musical genres performed by the York College music department.
York College students and staff showcased their performance skills, playing a variety of solo and group performances from their Vocational and A Level music studies, with a mix of classical, jazz, rock, indie, pop, musical theatre and choral music.
Head of Music Emily Thorp said: “Summer Sounds in the Park showcased the vibrancy of the York College music department, with representatives from every music course performing a wide variety of music. It was also a celebration of the music we have enjoyed performing together throughout the academic year and a chance to say goodbye and good luck to many of our students who will now progress to top conservatoires and universities to study music.”
