York College students and staff have supported two different Christmas Appeals in York, helping local people to have a happy Christmas.
Access and Higher Education students have supported the Minster FM Toy Appeal this year. Raising awareness of less fortunate families, students and staff donated a wheelie bins full of toys ranging from cuddly toys to puzzle books, helping to put a smile on children’s faces this Christmas. Access to Nursing and Midwifery students Felicity Welburn and Andrew Pycroft organised the Appeal in College. They said: “We were delighted with the response from fellow students and staff. It was great being able to take the donations to Minster FM, the toys will help to make Christmas Day special for many children and their families."
York College staff have once again generously donated provisions for the Christmas Besom Hamper project, handing over 47 festive hampers to the organisers. The hampers will be delivered to local people who face difficulties this Christmas. Religious Studies tutor Anna Lewis co-ordinated the hamper collection around College and was delighted with the response from all departments saying: “It’s really great that staff get involved in this project, their donations are very much appreciated by those in need and can make a huge difference at this time of year.”
Organisers from Minster FM and Besom Hampers have thanked the College very much for their support.
