To mark Interfaith Week, representatives from the Christian, Islamic and Buddhist faiths met with York College students to discuss their different beliefs, traditions and spiritual development.
Louise Feather, YoYo Schools Worker (York Schools and Youth Trust) commented: “The event helped us to get a better understanding of other faith groups. It is massively important to offer friendship and dialogue to people of other beliefs, whilst still holding firm to our own beliefs. The event provided a great opportunity for friendships to be built, good questions to be asked and for our understanding to be deepened.”
Anna Lewis, Religious Studies tutor added: “Particularly in the present culture, it is essential we communicate and appreciate each other, to value the things that really matter in life. This event has been really good, our students have opened up to discuss issues. They have demonstrated mutual respect and an understanding of Dignity of Difference.”
