During Business Week, the York College Business Development Unit held a free International Trade workshop to help local businesses who are considering trading abroad. The session was also awarded a high impact award as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The 90 minute interactive workshop, delivered by international trading experts Go International, included a practical guide on developing sales in international markets, through research and introductions to suppliers and clients. Those attending learnt how to write and develop a sales and marketing plan for their products and services and were given tips on conducting business abroad with new suppliers and clients.
Christopher Bray from legal software company Purple Frog Text in York attended the workshop. He said: “My company is thinking about exporting products overseas and I thought this was a good workshop to attend to get some initial pointers. It was an interesting workshop and it gave me plenty to think about.”
Said Claire Grayson from the College’s Business Development Unit: “International trading is quite a daunting prospect for businesses and this workshop session gave an insight into how business can get started. It was a perfect opportunity for businesses to learn the do’s and don’ts, in order to grow their sales overseas.”
