York College Virtual Creative Show
Welcome to the (Virtual) Creative Show 2020
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this year’s rather different York College Creative Show. I wish to thank all students and staff for their efforts in producing this virtual show- this is not an ‘off the shelf’ product…it was ‘born’ and created at York College!
As with everyone at the College, I was worried what impact the closing of the College due to Covid-19 would have on our students; how we would be able to engage and interact with our students during this time ensuring that they still received the input that they needed and deserved.
However, I was genuinely taken aback at how everyone (staff and students) were able to be so creative during this period with minimal access to specialist equipment, copious amounts of support material and individual tutorials online. The proof of this can clearly be seen in this Virtual Creative Show where the vast amount of work on show was produced during this period in the students negotiated Final Major Projects/final unit.
It is also pleasing to know that all the students are progressing to their next stage in their creative careers- whether that is the next level of course at York College, the degree course of their choice or starting their own creative careers and businesses.
I wish all the students every success and look forward to actually seeing some of them in person when courses start back in September- to our students, have a great summer and to all viewing we hope you enjoy the Show.
