C@N is based within one of the five listed buildings on the Treadmills site (on the site of the former Northallerton Prison) - in the old tenement building which over time had been used as prison officer’s accommodation, as offices and latterly for prison education.

It has been completely re-purposed to be made fit for ‘today’s’ students – on the three floors it will house office and break out space on the ground floor, York College on the first floor and University of Sunderland on the top floor.

Located on the first floor of the Treadmills building, we are excited to begin delivering a range of courses that will offer employers and individuals skills development opportunities to enable personal and business growth. Our initial course offer aims to address the skills shortage gap in the region that has been identified in the Local Skills Report.

Providing local access to high-quality training and skills development, is a core part of what York College does, and we’re thrilled to be involved in this unique partnership with Hambleton District Council, an initiative that will bring much-needed further education learning to the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire.

Our vision is to bring high-quality training to local people and businesses, that gives access to a wide range of learning opportunities, right on their doorsteps. Initially, the campus will provide digital evening classes for adults (19+), online learning and short courses for business and professional development. It is expected that these will be expanded upon based on demand. Our courses will feature both face to face and blended learning in modern, first-class facilities. We also offer opportunities for employers to explore bespoke training development solutions and apprenticeships.
