Changes to take effect from November 9th 2020
Due to Covid19 we have made the following changes to the college bus service.
We will continue to offer 15 bus routes from the surrounding areas. Please click here for the latest timetable.
We will now be offering online mobile daily tickets only. Please see more information regarding how to purchase a ticket and ticket pricing under "Buying tickets" further down this page.
You can purchase your online mobile daily bus pass from the online shop prior to using the bus for the first time. This is situated at the top of the home page of the college website. You cannot do this until you receive your college email address and password after you enrol.
Face coverings must be worn on all college bus routes. These can include face masks, bandanas, scarves etc. but must cover your nose and mouth.
Please space out as much as possible where you can when using the college bus.
Please fill the bus from the rear when boarding. Students living furthest away will need to sit at the rear of the bus. Please bear this in mind when boarding on a morning and when you go home.
Please use hand sanitiser when boarding.
If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 please do not come to college and do not use the college bus service. The main symptoms of Covid-19 are:
A new and continuous cough
A high temperature
Loss or change of smell or taste

Walking and cycling to College
We would encourage students where possible to walk or cycle to College.
Students attending from September 2020 are encouraged to consider use of the cycle path network.

Summary of our service
All our buses are now PSVAR compliant (Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations 2000) which means they all have wheelchair access.
Our College bus service offers 15 routes from across the region.
Routes are reviewed on a yearly basis and so if your area isn't currently serviced please get in touch so we can assess your individual needs.
The College Bus Service operates Monday to Friday and during term times only. There are two journeys per day on each route, one into college on a morning and one on an evening leaving the college. Please find below departure times from college for each route number. All buses drop off and pick up from the bus lanes inside the College grounds and the return journeys follow the same routes as the inward journey. Please see our current timetables, further down this page, which include route numbers, zones and departure times.
We use Twitter to communicate any delays or updates to our service. If you are using our service it is important that you follow us @yctravelupdates to stay up-to-date.

Departure Times from September 2020 from the bus lane at the front of the college.
York College provides information on journey times in good faith, however, in the event of a breakdown, traffic congestion or any other incidents beyond the reasonable control of the college or coach companies operating the routes, departure times may be affected and journeys may take longer than predicted; in these circumstances the college will not be liable for any delays.

Changes to the college bus service for 2020/21:
Route 2 from Kirkbymoorside - Bus stop opposite Middlecroft Drive Strensall has been added to the timetable
Route 3 from Scarborough, times have been brought forward 10 mins to enable a more prompt arrival at college

Please note: departure times are approximate so please arrive at the pick-up point at least 5 to 10 minutes before the advertised time as travel conditions can vary.
There are a number of local services which stop outside the college or nearby. Changes to the Reliance Service from September 2020
The bus stop has moved for services 30SE and 19M. The bus stop is no longer outside the college, it is Moor Lane bus stop which is opposite the Tesco Petrol Station, This is to help with social distancing.
Service 29 , 30 & 40 are unaffected and for social distancing reasons wReliance have put another bus on so service 30 & 40 no longer have to share the same bus.
Due to York College going back before the Schools, the PM bus will be a double decker and will pick up all students for service 29,30 and 40 between 2nd September until the 7th September only. Students will then change in York centre. Service 19M and 30SE will be as normal.
Due to Covid19, we encourage all students using the college bus service from September 2020 to purchase mobile bus tickets rather than using single paper tickets. This is to minimise physical contact.
If you are eligible for a bursary you will automatically receive a mobile annual pass.
You can buy your daily mobile coach pass from the online shop which is situated at the top of the homepage of the College website. You will need your student email address and password to log in (this will be given to you after you enrol).
If you do not have a smart phone, it is possible to purchase single tickets from the bus ticket machine outside the Alan Ayckbourn Theatre in the Atrium. However, due to Covid 19 may we ask that the use of the ticket machine is kept to a minimum to mimimise contact?
Daily Coach passes are priced according to the zone you are travelling to, inner, mid or outer (to find the zone and route you are travelling to please refer to the bus timetable here) . These are singles and you will need to buy one for each journey to college and from college. When you purchase your pass you will now be asked for your route number which can also be found on the bus timetable. Please make sure you choose the correct zone before you buy your tickets. This change has been implemented to help with track and trace.
Online single tickets will be available to purchase for the following week at the end of each week.
Once you have purchased the pass it will be sent to your mobile device, along with a receipt, as an email attachment and you will need to show the pass (not the receipt) to the driver. Your pass will have your photo, student details and validity date.
If you do not receive your email within a few minutes of purchase, please check you spam/junk folder and you should find it in there.
If you attend college 4 days in a particular week, you will autmatically be refunded for the 4th day. This is to keep costs in line with the previous weekly ticket which are no longer available for
Checks are being carried out by the college to make sure the correct bus passes are being purchased for the correct zone and timetable for each student. Refunds cannot be given for incorrectly bought passes (please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions which you can find on this web page before buying a mobile pass).
Single tickets from the ticket machine in the Atrium - No minimum spend. The machine takes cash / card / contactless and Apple/android pay. You will need to show your college I.D along with a single ticket when boarding the coach. due to Covid19, please use contactless if you can to minimise contact.

Inner Zone £2.10 per single ticket
Mid Zone £3.20 per single ticket
Outer Zone £4.20 per single ticket
There will be no refunds issued for single paper tickets or online daily tickets . Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of travel before buying a ticket .

Terms and Conditions of Travel
You must read and agree to the terms and conditions in order to travel on any of the College Coaches from September 2020 onwards.
The student code of conduct applies and inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with under college disciplinary procedures; any students with concerns are encouraged to report details to their tutor or contact Student Service (please see contact info under Reporting a problem below).
