T Level in Digital Support & Security

The work placement element of the T Level was a major draw for Lily in deciding to study the course. Lily could see that this would give her valuable work experience that she could take forward when applying for jobs and apprenticeships. From working in the College’s virtual labs and completing industry recognised certificates to fast-paced problem solving and teamwork, the T Level course has provided the skills for Lily to put into practice on her placement at Lowell Group.

“I’ve done firewall management and I was able to apply what I’d learned during my first year at College at Lowell, which really helped my understanding of it.”

Lily’s experience on her placement involved working in different teams across the business including the Cyber Risk and Governance Team, the Information Risk team and the IT Infrastructure Security teams. As Darren Ayre, Head of Infrastructure Security at Lowell Group, says of the tasks Lily was undertaking: “When designing Lily’s work placement, we were guided not only by her impressive knowledge and enthusiasm but also by a desire to give her a truly well-rounded experience. Looking closely at her curriculum, we knew it was important that her time with us went beyond the technical aspects of cyber security.”
