Achieving two Distinction* grades and a Distinction grade on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports – Business & Digital Innovation secured Sam a place on the International Business degree course at prestigious Russell Group member, the University of Leeds.
On a course where very little time is actually spent playing games, Sam was able to study a wider range of topics relating to the industry but with crossover into many other business areas.
“The course covers so many topics, including things like ethics, where we’d debate censorship and age ratings for games. I really enjoyed the courses’ Enterprise & Entrepreneurship module. That’s what helped to inspire my decision to apply for the International Business course.”
The skills developed in event management, leadership, communication and teamwork through the Events module on the course, and in his role as course Student Leader, are all transferable to the business career that Sam is aiming for.
