College
students provide a ‘Salon
for the Day’ at Hob Moor
Children’s Centre
To highlight national
‘Colleges Week’, Hair & Beauty
students from York College
transformed a classroom
at Hob Moor Children’s
Centre into a ‘Salon
for the Day’, helping
the school community
to get together to enjoy
free pampering treatments.
Said Rob Cameron, Head
of School at Hob Moor
Children’s Centre: “The
college approached us
with the idea of creating
a ‘Salon for the Day’
and we felt this was
an ideal opportunity
for our staff, pupils
and parents to get together
to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere
at the school. The Hair & Beauty
students did a fantastic
job providing a range
of beauty treatments,
including manicures,
eye brow shaping, massage
and make-up application.
It was a very enjoyable
experience for everyone.”
Said Paul Guilfoyle,
Head of Marketing at
York College: “At this
time of year Colleges
Week is celebrated up
and down the country.
Projects such as this
one promote the excellent
work that goes on in
further education colleges
and create an opportunity
for students to highlight
their skills. At Hob
Moor Children’s Centre
the college’s Hair & Beauty
students were able to
showcase their talents
and they brought the
whole school community
together.”
