York College is delighted to annouce record Level 3 Vocational results. York College students have achieved 277 Triple Distinctions (equivalent to 3 A grades at A level) including 98 Triple D*s (equivalent to 3 A* grades at A Level), which is a new measure this year.
Some of the subject areas with fantastic results include Art and Design (22 DDD grades, with 13 D*D*D* grades), Performing Arts (34 DDD, with 14 D*D*D*), Applied Science (10 DDD, with 2 D*D*D*), Public Services (39 DDD, with 9 D*D*D*) and Child Studies (20 DDD, out of a group of 32 students).
Lee Armstrong, Head of Division for Public Services is very pleased with the results in his Division saying: “It is superb news to know that our Public Services students can progress onto higher education and employment with the highest possible grade profile.“
Student James Savage, previously of York High School, has achieved a Triple Distinction in Applied Science, he says: “The course involved coursework, which was great, especially as I struggle with exams. There was a great level of practical work, which gave me a benefit over A Level students. I’m excited to be able to progress to Surrey University to study Paramedic Practice, to qualify as a Paramedic.”
Once again, students studying the Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science have excelled. The group finished with 30 students (out of 34) achieving triple distinctions (DDD), 22 of whom achieved D*D*D*. Many of the students achieved these grades alongside studying for additional professional qualifications in Sports Massage and Gym Instructing.Course tutor, Adam Gledhill is delighted with the results saying: “I am very pleased and proud of the students. The results are testament to their hard work and commitment to the Extended Diploma course. Having received the results many students can relax, knowing that they have made the grade to progress to university in September. The Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science gives a good grounding for those wanting to go on to study for careers in areas such as physiotherapy, sports therapy, personal training and sport science. I would like to congratulate all of the students on their fantastic achievements and wish them the very best of luck with their future endeavours.”Back to News Stories listing
