First year Creative Media (Film and Television) students at York College had fun working on a promotional video for their own college course.
Student, Mikey McCulloch-Holmes was part of group of six students who created the video. He said: “We were asked to make an advert to promote York College and in particular our course. We did some brainstorming and carried out research on You Tube. We wanted to make the video appealing to prospective students and to have some fun with the content. Once the ideas were in place we shot the film and edited it down to make the final video footage. We enjoyed making the video and we are pleased with the end result. I find the course interesting and in the future I would like to be a professional film maker.”
Said course tutor, Scott Langford: “As part of the Extended Diploma course students work on a variety of live projects. This one was particularly close to home! I think the students' sense of creativity comes across well and they have kept to the brief, which was to create a short promotional video for their course. Many students progress from studying the Extended Diploma at York College to higher education courses at universities around the country and projects such as this provide them with the necessary skills.”
