York College final year Fashion students paraded their creations on the catwalk in celebration of the end of their Extended Diploma, Foundation Degree and BA(Hons) Fashion Design courses. The show, held at the York Racecourse, featured different themes ranging from 'Vintage Circus' to 'Indescribable India' and 'Sculpted in White'.
Marie Neal-Smith, Fashion tutor at York College commented: ”The students worked extremely hard producing varied collections. Personal themes were reflected throughout including a student exchange to India and pieces inspired by Beatrix Potter. Also, the Extended Diploma Fashion and Clothing students presented collections inspired by Art Nouveau.“
The Yorkshire Museum, The Company of Cordwainers and Fletchers Fabrics provided collaborative client lead projects resulting in work reflecting a diverse range of industrial practice. The College values support from The Company of Merchant Taylors who presented the ”Best Collection“ Prizes to the Foundation and Degree students. Also, BA(Hons) Degree students exhibited their pieces produced for the Precious Cargo Project at The Yorkshire Museum at the beginning of July, their work was previewed by the Queen when she visited York in June.Back to News Stories listing
