York College is participating in York's Science and Innovation Grand Tour 2012, celebrating the city of York's phenomenal achievements in science and innovation. The Grand Tour exhibition includes more than 60 captivating and inspirational images, telling the most fascinating stories, displayed around the historic streets of York between 30th May and 31st August 2012.
York College is exhibiting outside City Screen in York, just a stone's throw from Coney Street. The College's exhibit features former A Level student Adam Clawson who, after gaining a degree in Mechatronics at the University of Leeds and winning the Farnell Award for his '24 degrees of freedom' hand, went on to study a Masters in Engineering. He is currently studying for a PHD in Bioengineering at the University of Brunswick in Canada, working on upper limb prosthetic research and is the lead mechanical engineer involved in a mulit-million dollar advanced hand prosthetic research project.
The Grand Tour exhibition makes for an interesting and free walking tour of the city and a free Tour Guide leaflet is available from York's Visitor Information Centre in Museum Street. You can plan your route with a free App for iphone and Android Smartphones. Also Smartphones can be used to scan QR codes found on exhibits for more information.
