Final year Extended Diploma Musical Theatre students, accompanied by a band of musicians from Extended Diploma and A2 Music courses as well as members of the College's Music Development Centre, will perform the musical 'Rent' in the Alan Ayckbourn Theatre on Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th May (2pm and 7pm daily).
Rent is the students' final major project as they come towards the end of their time at York College and many of them are progressing to study Higher Education courses in music, theatre and drama. For example James Baxter who plays the lead role of Roger, has secured a place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama to study musical theatre in September.
Nigel Bartram, Musical Theatre tutor comments: “This is a full-scale production of Rent, without any cuts, suitable for 16's and over. It is a rare opportunity to hear the show performed in its entirety. The cast is really superb and our Extended Diploma Technical Theatre students are doing a great job behind the scenes working on production, stage management, lighting, sound production and stage/set design.”
Tickets are available from the College's Finance desk, priced £8 (adults) and £6 (concessions)
