York
College students perform
‘Dark Side of the Moon’
National Diploma Music
Technology students and
other guest students
studying Musical Theatre
and A Level Music at
York College rose to
the challenge and performed
‘Dark Side of the Moon’,
the classic album by
Pink Floyd at the college’s
Alan Ayckbourn Theatre.
The performance, involving
imagery projection by
Media students, was a
progressive rock journey,
re-living the heady days
of 1973, with classic
tracks such as "Money", "Time" and "Us
and Them".
Said Rob Parker, music
tutor at York College
says: “This iconic soundtrack
is rarely performed.
When the album was released
it had quite an impact.
It was one of the biggest
selling albums of all
time, being in the album
charts for 740 weeks.
When I told the students
that we were going to
perform this they were
very excited because
they already knew the
soundtrack from their
parent’s record collection.
They certainly recognise
the iconic status of
the album and they did
a fantastic job performing
the tracks.”
