students enjoy learning
with Jaguar/Land Rover
The York College Young
Apprenticeship high achieving
year 10 students got
a huge surprise when
they discovered the latest,
brand new model of the
Jaguar XJ 3 litre Diesel
waiting for them in the
college’s motor vehicle
workshop. The new XJ
is the ultimate in contemporary
luxury, exhilarating,
sustainable, stunning
Jaguar design, intuitive
technology and innovative
thinking.
The arrival of new Jaguar
XJ announced the launch
of the Jaguar/ Land Rover
Academy’s Virtual Learning
Environment. This is
a Online classroom which
delivers training worldwide
by 45,000 users throughout
the Jaguar / Land Rover
dealership network. Now
the Young Apprenticeship
students too have access
to online ’Live’, ‘Real
Time’ high quality engineering
lessons which are interactive
and engaging and link
directly to the course
modules they are studying.
Students can see their
progress at the press
of a button.

York College said: “In
September 2009 Jaguar
/ Land Rover invited
the York College Young
Apprenticeship Motor
Vehicle programme to
join their Academy of
Excellence. This prestigious
Training Academy has
enabled Young Apprenticeship
students to develop their
engineering skills in
readiness for their high
quality work placements
within the local Jaguar/
Land Rover dealerships
and motor vehicle industry.
The successful achievement
of the Young Apprenticeship
gives students a further
four GCSEs. The Young
Apprentices will also
be making group visits
to the Jaguar / Land
Rover Academy based in
Leamington Spa where
they will be filmed working
in the Virtual Learning
Workshop. They will visit
the XJ Castle Bromwich
factory and see the cars
being made, complete
assignments about the
history of Jaguar Land
Rover at the Heritage
Centre and participate
in 4 x 4 Land Rover off
road tests and trails
and Go Karting activities.”

in the Motor Vehicle

during years 10 and 11
(while continuing with
your GCSE’s at school)
