York College's 1000th UCAS applicant
Jennifer Fisher is the 1000th student at
York College to submit a UCAS application this year. Jennifer is currently studying a Foundation Degree in Fashion Design at York College and she has now applied, through UCAS, to study the Fashion Design Top Up course at York College, to convert her qualification to a BA (Hons) degree.
Jennifer came from Wolfreton School in Hull where she enjoyed studying A Level Textiles, from which her enthusiasm and interest led her to want to study the two year Foundation Degree in Fashion. She is now pleased to apply for the Top Up Fashion Design course at York College, enabling her to turn her Foundation Degree into a full BA (Hons) degree.
Jennifer says: "I wanted to study fashion when I left school and I'm glad I came to York College. The tutors are very supportive and they have a lot of time for the students. I have made some good friends on the course and I'm happy to stay for a further year to complete the full BA (Hons) Fashion Design course. I have travelled to College from Hull, three days a week, so it is easy for me to continue to do so. I would like to work in lingerie and on completion of my degree I will probably look for an internship in the industry."
Last year the College submitted a total of 946 UCAS applications. This year a record number of York College students have applied for places at university and the College is working hard to help them secure a place in September.
Andy D'Agorne, Career Co-ordinator at
York College comments: "To have 1000 UCAS applications by March is a record for the College. It is very encouraging to see so many students wanting to progress to Higher Education this year."
