York College Unveils New Guide to Courses
The York College 2011-2012 Course Guide was launched at a special event for those involved in providing careers advice for young people in York and the wider region. Personal advisors from Connexions and heads of careers from York schools attended. The Launch provided an opportunity for the college’s Schools and College
Liaison Officers to introduce the updated full-time courses for 16 to 19 year olds, and also outline the Course Guide’s structure, and usability.
Sophie Burr, York College Senior Schools and College Liaison Officer said, “Our job is to ensure that young people find the right course for them, ensuring that they achieve their full potential. This year we have not only focused on course information but tried to give young people a visual insight into what York College is really like, the staff who work who teach and support them, and the type of students who are studying here. Our students tell us York College is a good stepping stone from school to either university or employment.”
Dorothy Edgar, Connexions Advisor said: “The new Course Guide is impressive, with great photographs showing students at work and in a social context. It gives prospective students an insight in to what it is like at college, and what the A Level Faculty and Vocational Programmes have to offer them.”
The new Course Guide will be delivered to schools in York and the surrounding area within the next few weeks. Anyone requiring a copy should call 01904 770400. Course information is also on the college website.
York College is also holding two open events in the coming months for prospective students and their parents/carers, giving them the opportunity to visit the college and
find out more about over 40 AS/A Levels and 80 Vocational courses on offer. For futher details visit: www.yorkcollege.ac.uk. |
