York College Destinations Achievement
Figures recently published by York College show that one in five full-time students went into jobs in 2010 with over half of the College's full-time advanced level students progressing to Higher Education in spite of the growing competition for places. This year a record number of students have applied for places at university and the College is working hard to help them secure a place in September.
Each year York College collates destination information from students when they complete courses. The College’s 2009/10 destination report shows that over 700 students progressed onto degree courses and over 400 students went into full-time employment. Also, 80% of Level 1 students continued with further study at York College and 57% of Level 2 students did so, while 28% of Level 2 students went into work.
The report is useful for future students thinking about their options on completion of their courses and is available on the College website.
Says York College Careers Coordinator, Andy D’Agorne: “Each year the College’s destination report involves a huge amount of research by our Student Services team. This year we are particularly pleased with the volume of feedback and information we received from ex-students. It is interesting to note the high proportion of progression to Higher Education and also the fact that so many of our students found employment after leaving college.”
