York City Knights Smarten Up
Chris Thorman, player-coach for York City Knights and also coach to the York College Rugby Development Centre, was congratulated by his students and fellow tutors after being named man of the match in the
all-important final play-off game against Oldham, in which York City Knights secured promotion to rugby league’s Championship. York City Knights’ victory was won on
26th September, which was also Chris’s 30th birthday.
Chris said: “It was a fantastic game and a great achievement for York City Knights. The final result was testament to everyone’s hard work over the last year.
I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to coach and play for the Knights. I am a former rugby international player and now I see my future in coaching.
I really appreciate the support I received from students and staff at York College for our important qualifying game.”
Before the big game, Chris organised for his fellow squad members to be smartened up in the York College hair salon for a quick shampoo, rinse and tidy-up ahead of their appearance against Oldham. He said: “We are going to be on Sky Sports so we need to look good!”.
Their new hairstyles obviously did the trick! |
