Triple
Distinction Success for
Sport & Exercise
Science Students
Seventeen York College
students (out of a group
of eighteen) studying
for a National Diploma
in Sport and Exercise
Science have excelled
themselves and achieved
triple distinction grades
(equivalent to 3 As at
A Level). They have all
achieved their personal
aims of qualifiying for
university places in
subjects ranging from
Sport to Law.
Says former Canon Lee
school student Matt Noble:
We bonded well as a group
and this really aided
our learning. The course
covered a wide variety
of topics which were
linked to practical skills.
It was coursework based,
which is different to
A Levels. The staff support
has been great and this
type of learning has
really suited me. I have
enjoyed the course and
I am pleased that everyone
in the group has achieved
excellent results. I
am now looking forward
to studying Applied Sport & Exercise
Science at Northumbria
University in September.”
Says course tutor, Adam
Gledhill: “From the very
start the students embraced
the course and promoted
a strong work ethic in
the group. They had drive
and an interest in the
subject which complemented
their work. They all
get on well together
and their success speaks
volumes. I am actually
lost for words to describe
how proud I and the rest
of the Sports team are
of them.”
