Skype India
As part of their Level 2 qualification, IT & Computing students made their first video Skype call to a school in India, enabling them to talk to the school children about their lives in India and to compare their lives in the UK. The students have studied Skype technology and discussed its impact on society around the world.
IT tutor, David McNorton said: “This was an experiment to see how well the technology allows for cultural exchange. When we first made the Skype call there were complications. The fact that it was not a straightforward process almost helped the teaching of this technology, allowing the students to understand just how Skype works.”
It is hoped that next year a possible exchange trip with the school in India may result from this communication.
