First Diploma
Business students at
York College sold Valentines
Day single roses in a
final attempt to raise
money for the Sue Ryder
Care Big Wig Challenge.
This fundraising challenge
has involved six teams
of First Diploma and
National Diploma Business
students. The teams were
given £50 each and told
to return it, with profit,
by the end of February.
The teams organised different
activities including
cake stalls, a cross
bar challenge, tombolas
and a leg shaving bonanza
for the boys. In total
the students have raised
approximately £350.00.
Says tutor Christine
Hogarth: “The Big Wig
Challenge was a valuable
exercise for our students.
It helped them to develop
entrepreneurial skills
and also to be competitive.
They have had to think
creatively and have found
it rewarding to see their
hard work culminate in
raising funds for such
a worthwhile charity.”
