Japanese Millinery Work
York College played host again this summer to two groups of visiting Japanese students from partner universities in Tokyo (Tokyo Kasei University and Kyushu Sangyo University). During their stay they focused on improving English speaking and writing skills, as well as taking classes in millinery and fashion. They enjoyed a tour of York and visits to the Double Two and Burberry factories, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Junction 32 Shopping outlet and a day trip to Whitby.
York College International Manager John Kear said: “Our visiting students were able to develop skills in areas of fashion that are not normally covered in fashion and textiles degree courses in Japan. The highlight of the visit was the millinery project which produced some really exciting and innovative designs.”
