Guy Mowbray Commentates to York College Sports Students
Sport students at York College were delighted to be given the opportunity to hear leading BBC football commentator, Guy Mowbray, speak about his illustrious career.
Guy, who lives in York, visited the College to give a talk to a packed lecture theatre of sport students. His talk gave them an insight into the world of football commentating.
Guy was pleased to be invited to the College saying: “I am happy to be here, talking to students about the role of a sports commentator. When I was a student I would have been very interested to hear about sports commentary as a career option. It’s great to be able to pass on my experience to others.”
Over the past decade Guy Mowbray has become one of the leading football commentators on British television. He regularly commentates for Match of the Day and was BBC commentator for the 2010 World Cup final.
Gordon Staniforth, Coordinator of the York College Football Development Centre said: “It was brilliant to have such a vibrant sports personality interacting with our students. His impressive career is of great interest to everyone involved in sport here. The students were ‘all ears’ listening to Guy’s talk.”
