National Calendar Awards Winners at York College
Three final year BA (Hons) Graphic Design students from York College have won prizes at the pretigious National Calendar Awards 2011.
Luke Portman was highly commended for his desktop calendar design which he created for the Highways agency. Luke was inspired by the language of graphic motorway signage an he used this to communicate information. Lyn Bailey won a certificate of merit and her calendar was inspired by the work of Paperchase, reflecting her passion for illustration. Rebecca Bullement also won a certificate of merit. Her calendar was produced for the Choclatiers 'Green and Blacks' and was based on a traditional Mayan Circular calendar as this is the area where cocoa is sourced.
Said Graphic Design tutor said Alan Preston: “It was really great to hear that we had three winners in this national competition. Each student worked hard to fulfil their brief and the results speak for themselves.”
