Games Studio

York College hosted a Games Studio Showcase event illustrating PC games designed, developed and launched by the students from the College's Games Studio X-tra Curricular enrichment activity.

The showcase included one individual and eight team projects consisting of design concepts, artwork and fully fledged games covering a wide range of genres. Representatives from the Computer Games industry were present as judges, as well as members of the College community who attended the event to view the computer games.

Prizes were awarded for Best Art, Best Gameplay, Best Concept, Best Overall Game, Canalside Studios Award, Most Popular Game voted by the College Community.

Co-ordinator at York College commented: "This event was a culmination of a years work for the students and provided a great opportunity for them to demonstrate their computer game creations. The Games Studio is an Xtra Curricular activity which has been very popular. All the students received well deserved, complimentary feedback from visitors. This is the first time any of them have designed games and they have worked very hard and performed extraordinarily well, I am very proud of all of them.
