York College Football Development Centre Men’s team have reached the semi-final of the English Colleges FA Cup after a 3-0 victory over Worthing College. It was a thrilling match. The nerves were settled early on with York College scoring their first goal inside three minutes, through Ian Blackburn. York held out until half time and added a second goal soon after the break from Jonathon Creek. The final goal cemented the match via a penalty, converted by team captain Rob Ward.

Development Centre Coordinator Gordon Staniforth said: “This is the furthest a York College team has progressed in a cup competition. The team played a blinder, showing great spirit. We are all chuffed to bits. We are now waiting to hear who we will face in the semi-final and we are up for the challenge, whoever our competition will be.”
