York
College Creative Show
2010
The Creative Show is
an exhibition of Further
and Higher Education
work by students studying
Fine Art, Design & Craft
courses at York College,
featuring work produced
over the year. The exhibition
shows the inspirational
ideas and achievements
of students in a range
of disciplines; drawing,
painting, print-making,
glass, ceramics, jewellery,
sculpture, 3D, product
design, films, digital
imaging, animation, photography,
fashion, design, graphics
and excellent portfolios
students have prepared
for interviews at prestigious
destinations across the
UK.
Says Helen Ventress,
Head of Division for
Art & Design at York
College: “The Creative
Show reflects the efforts
and achievements of students
as they embark on the
next stage in their careers.
Their inspiration comes
from trips, live projects,
working with employers,
competitions and preparation
for the real world of
work and further study.
They are the artists
and designers of the
future with their finger
on the pulse of new ideas
and the ever changing
world we live in.
They will now progress
to employment or go on
to study higher level
courses. Our students’
destinations are many
and various and include
prestigious places at
universities across the
UK as well as the college’s
own degree courses. Some
of our students already
have contracts for real
work and have worked
to commission through
York Open Studios. They
share a sound network
available through tutors
who are practitioners
in the field with strong
links in the contemporary
art, design and business
world.”
