The Level 1 Award is an introductory course in 3D Computer Aided Design. It will provide a basic understanding associated with IT, CAD hardware and operating systems, and basic file management techniques, as well as giving a basic understanding of the parametric modelling process (3D) and its user interface.
Students will be able to use a range of commands to create and constrain sketches, produce extruded and revolved features, placed features to modify parametric models, and methods to create assemblies.
This course will develop your skills at 3D CAD, and can help you in any design-related job in manufacturing, architecture or engineering.
Using either Solidworks or Inventor software, students will develop skills in practical sessions and learn some of the theory behind 3D computer aided design.
Anyone signed on to the course will be given a code to download a free version of SolidWorks software onto their home computer which is licensed for a year.
Exams and Assessments
Assessment will be through practical demonstrations, assignments and a simple, short, hand written test.
City and Guilds Level 1 Award in CAD (Parametric Modelling)
Students successfully completing the course could progress to the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in CAD (Parametric Modelling)
The cost of this course is £280.
Courses costing more than £200 can usually be paid for in instalments. Please contact the College for details.
