What will I study?
This course prepares students to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years.
Units covered include:
- Child development
- Children’s health and well-being
- Play and learning
- Providing safe environments for children
- Child health
- Understanding children’s additional needs
- Observation, assessment and planning
How will I be assessed?
Students must pass seven assignments in Year One and also a Controlled Assessment. If successful, you will progress to Year Two and study a further seven assignments and also a Controlled Assessment. All coursework is graded A* - D grade.
Students are also required to complete 375 hours of work placement for the Certificate and 750 hours for the Diploma and will be assessed in the workplace.
What could it lead to?
Upon achievement of this qualification, students will be fully qualified as Early Years professionals and may progress into employment such as Teaching Assistants, Nannies or work in Nurseries. You will also be able to go to university to study Education, Primary Teaching or Social Work.
