Entry requirements

Applicants for the Level 1 Diploma should ideally have a minimum of 4 Ds at GCSE which should include English and Maths (grade 3+), and applicants will also be assessed and interviewed prior to acceptance on to the course. Level 1 must be completed before progressing onto the Level 2 Diploma and then Level 3.

Duration

One year for each level.

What will I study?

Level 1 Diploma units include:

Safe Working Practices in Construction
Information, Quantities and Communications
Knowledge of Building Construction
Preparing Background Surfaces and Plaster Materials
Apply Plaster Materials to Internal Backgrounds
Produce Components from Moulds

All students will be expected to work towards completion of a Level 2 English and Maths qualification (as required) alongside this course to enable progression onto the Level 2 Diploma.

Level 2 Diploma units include:

Safe Working Practices in Construction
Information, Quantities and Communications
Knowledge of Building Construction
Apply Plaster Materials to External Surfaces
Fix Dry Lining and Plasterboard Products to Interiors
Form Sand and Cement Screeds
Produce Plaster Components

Level 3 Diploma units include:

Safe Working Practices in Construction
Information, Quantities and Communications
Knowledge of Building Construction
One and Two Coat Plaster Work
Dry Lining
Position and Secure Fibrous Plaster Components
Apply Plaster Material to Produce Complex Internal Surfaces

How will I be assessed?

Assessment in practical skills is continuous with end of year assignments.

What could it lead to?

On completion of each Diploma students can progress onto the next level where appropriate or go on to find employment in order to transfer to an apprenticeship, and then onto higher level courses in Construction.
